6/27/08 - TrixieTeam made it to 1B9 !    (B. Camp)

13:05 ET - Well they made it to Mansfield, Massachusetts. The last leg was a bit easier and fast at a flight time of 54 minutes but still not as straight as the team would have preferred due to low flying and lingering haze. Flying low again makes it hard for radio comm. Austin tower never heard them. A lot of racers had already arrived as the race ends today at 17:00 ET. An air show is coming to the airport this weekend so lots of tents and people around. It should make for a nice end and party. The team will enjoy some sandwiches and camaraderie for the next few hours. They have no official agenda. Congratulations are in order for completing the race. It was a bit dicey in the end, but they kept their cool, minimized mistakes, and played by the rules. Mission Accomplished! T will catch-up on blogs, scores, and new photos in the PM update.

6/27/08 - The Finish Line    (T. Camp)

16:00 ET—It is now Friday and we made it to the finish line with some time to spare. That sounds funny noting the day of the week, but believe me, after 4 days of new states, airports, time zones and weather, I sometimes did not know what day it was. I just worked out the numbers and we came out with a positive 81 score, which is an accumulative 81 knots above our handicap. That’s pretty good for us, I think.? We’ll know in a couple of days but it would be nice to score well enough to place in any leg - that would just be icing on the cake after finishing.

I took a brief nap when we got to the hotel and I think Evelyn relaxed as well. We are going to look for the hospitality room. A local family is supposedly taking the racers out to dinner tonight. Sounds nice, but that is a lot of mouths to feed! Pictures attached! - Teresa
